Our Fleet Services

Fleet general services

  • Customer-required inspections- we handle all customer-required inspections
  • DOT inspections- we are certified to conduct vehicle-only inspections for safety assessments

Fleet brakes

  • Air brakes- commonly used in trucks, buses, and trains, airbrakes need consistent, thorough maintenance. We have qualified and experienced mechanics who will work on your truck's air brakes
  • Brake maintenance and repair- we will diagnose your truck and fleet's brake problems and offer high quality brake work
  • Hydraulic brakes- uses brake fluid to transfer pressure to the brake pads. With time, the hydraulic brakes components wear out and thus need replacement

Fleet drive train

  • Clutch- engages and disengages the power transmission from the driving shaft to driven shaft. Clutches need periodic servicing and replacing
  • Differential- the differential lets your truck make turns with ease. Your fleet of trucks requires periodic differential repairs and replacement
  • Driveline- the driveline, which is located after the transmission, changes depending on whether the vehicle is rear-wheel, front-wheel, or four-wheel drive. To solve driveline problems, you need to have worn-out lubricant and engine parts replaced
  • Transmission- With time, a truck's transmission wears out and starts developing problems. Transmission problems are known to cause mechanical breakdowns. When this happens, you need to have the transmission repaired, rebuilt, or replaced

Fleet electrical

  • Batteries and cables- we offer excellent replacement batteries and cables for your vehicle
  • Breakers and fuses- we carry an assortment of breakers and fuses for your vehicle's needs
  • Lights- we carry a variety of lights that provide 180 degrees of uninterrupted illumination
  • Spark plugs- spark plugs channel the electrical current to ignite the fuel. Like many parts of your vehicle, spark plugs wear out
  • Starters and alternators- a starter converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. The alternator charges your vehicle's battery. Looking for a starter or alternator for your vehicle? Let us help you
  • Wiring and switches- we can replace faulty wiring and switches on your vehicle

Fleet engine work

  • Belts and hoses- a timing belt (also referred to as the camshaft drive belt or the Gilmer belt) is a notched belt that allows the crankshaft to turn the camshaft. Failure of the timing belt would lead to failure of the engine. A loose timing belt could lead to its slipping. When slipped, valves will open at the wrong time putting them at the risk of being struck by the pistons. To avoid this, have your timing belts inspected and serviced regularly
  • Cooling system- the cooling system is made up of various parts that work harmoniously. These parts are the radiator, fan, pump, pressure cap, hoses, thermostat, and overflow tank. Failure of any of the parts will result in a poorly functioning cooling system
  • Diesel- although diesel engines don't require tune-ups and tend to last longer than gasoline engines, they do require regular maintenance. Typical maintenance tasks include: changing the oil and filter, changing the air filter, changing the fuel filter, bleeding the fuel system, draining the water separators, and refilling the urea injection system
  • Engine-The engine provides power that drives your truck. With a poorly operating engine, you will have a poor performing truck
  • Exhaust- a truck's exhaust system is made up of one or more exhaust pipes. An exhaust system can be modified to increase engine power (and performance), reduce pollution, or reduce noise. Also, a properly operating exhaust system is required for operator safety
  • Water pumps- water pumps have vanes that fling the fluid to the outside of the pump (using centrifugal force) where it can enter the internal combustion engine. After going through the engine and the cylinder head, the fluid flows back to the water pump. If the water pump develops a leak or the hub becomes loose and noisy, you need to have it replaced. Faulty water pumps will lead to poor cooling of the internal combustion engine

Fleet front end services

  • King pins- a king pin is the main pivot in the steering mechanism of your truck. In most vehicle steering systems, the pin forms part of the mechanism for turning the front wheels. Failure of the king pin will mean that the steering system will not work properly...and improperly working steering systems can be dangerous
  • Power steering- power steering (also known as the steering assist system) helps you turn the truck by augmenting the steering effort of the steering wheel. Power steering works by utilizing a hydraulic pump mounted on the engine. When the wheel is turned, the fluid in the steering system (held under pressure) is released applying pressure to the steering system
  • Spring and U bolts- the spring supports the weight of your truck allowing the suspension to move over bumps. The movement of the spring is controlled by the shocks. The shocks stop it from bouncing

Fleet suspension work

  • Air spring- air suspension is used in place of conventional steel springs in heavy vehicle applications such as buses and trucks. It is broadly used on semi-trailers. The purpose of air suspension is to provide a smooth, constant ride quality. Modern electronically controlled systems almost always feature self-leveling along with raising and lowering functions. Although traditionally called air bags or air bellows, the correct term is air spring (although these terms are also used to describe just the rubber bellows element with its end plates)
  • Equalizers- suspension equalizers are an effective aftermarket innovation for rear leaf suspensions. The equalizers are designed to aid in the carrying ability of your truck. Equalizers have the following advantages: fuel economy, increased safety, increased power, reduced tire wear, improved steering, and improved braking.
  • Hangers- hangers are an effective way to enhance your truck's driving stability, handling, and suspension response. Hangers lower your truck's center of gravity, protecting it from rollovers in turns and corners and help you modify your truck's ground clearance
  • Shocks- shock absorbers are mechanical devices designed to smooth out shock impulses, thus reducing the effects of traveling over rough roads. Shocks convert kinetic energy that is formed when a vehicle travels over rough ground into another form of energy. With shocks, you will be able to take your truck to places you never thought possible. Shocks work together with springs (they damp spring oscillations) to give your truck the best overall performance and the ability to carry the maximum load. For all your shock servicing, shock repairs and shock replacement needs, call or visit Quality Repair Service today.
  • Torque arms and walking beams- a torque arm is a metal arm attached between a drive axle and the vehicle's frame. Torque arms prevent axle rotation in hub motors. It prevents the wheels from trying to rotate the axle relative to the vehicle's frame under acceleration (or in the opposite direction during braking).

Fleet wheel services

  • Bearings- among the types of bearings commonly used in automotive wheels are taper roller bearings, roller bearings, roller thrust bearings, thrust ball bearings, and ball bearings. Although properly maintained bearings can last for over 100,000 miles, rumbles, clicks and groans means that the bearings need replacing (even if they haven't stayed for long). Worn out wheel bearings cannot carry your truck's load
  • Hubs, seals, studs and nuts- a wheel hub motor, also referred to as a wheel motor, is an electric motor incorporated into the wheel hub and drives it directly. You can have a safer and smoother ride today by replacing your warped and worn out wheel hubs. Properly working seals provide oil and grease sealing - offering enhanced performance in a wide range of temperatures and environments. Worn out or warped seals allow external contaminants to enter the bearing unit or let lubricant escape from the unit. Studs are the threaded fasteners that hold on the wheels of your truck. The wheel studs are permanently mounted on the wheel hub through the brake disk or brake drum. To secure the wheel, nuts (lug nuts) are fastened over the stud. A wheel nut or lug nut is a fastener for securing a wheel on the hub. A set of lug nuts are used to secure a wheel to the threaded wheel studs (which are fixed to a wheel hub). Worn out nuts mean one thing - the wheel is not fixed securely on the vehicle which puts the vehicle at the risk of rolling over

Fleet trailer work

  • Brakes- a brake is a mechanical device for inhibiting a truck's motion. Unlike car brakes, truck brakes have to be bigger and more powerful to stop the truck and its load. Most brakes use friction to convert kinetic energy into heat. The brakes store braking heat in the disc brake or drum brake when braking and then conduct it to the air gradually. Faulty brakes put you and other road users at a great risk. Faulty brakes increase the chances of collisions
  • Floors- the floor is an important part of your truck/trailer. A trailer floor highly determines the safety and delivery of your goods. Trailer floors can be made of timber, aluminum, stainless steel or other strong metals.
  • Landing gear leg repair and maintenance- landing gear legs are an important component of a trailer. At Quality Repair Service, we know that broken landing gear can severely damage your trailer, cargo or driver. A trailer's landing gear leg is deployed using a manual crank. If the crank is well maintained and well-greased the mechanism moves easily. Landing gear that is difficult to crank presents frustrating challenges that cost your fleet precious time. Regular landing gear maintenance can mean the difference between an on-time delivery or expensive delays.
  • Lights- lights are one of the most important parts of any vehicle. This is especially so if you travel early in the morning or late in the evening. The lights provide illumination for you as you drive. In trucks, the lighting system is made up of front, sides, rear, and top lights. The lights are designed to let you drive safely after dark
  • Roll up doors- to keep your goods safe, make sure your truck's doors are strong and working properly. At Quality Repair Service, we understand the urgent need to get your trucks and trailers back on the road when a door is damaged or working improperly
  • Suspension- suspension is a collective name given to the system of shocks, springs, and linkages that connect a truck to its wheels and allow relative motion between the two. The suspension system has the following main purposes: keeping the occupants of the truck comfortable, contributing to the truck's handling and braking, protecting the truck from wear and damage, maximizing the friction between the tires and the road surface; and increasing safety

Fleet welding services

  • Mobile welding- can't come to us? Let one of our welding technicians come to you. We offer mobile welding services. Our experienced welding technicians will work on your truck at your home, place of business, or on the road

Fleet electronics

  • Check engine light- no one likes to see their truck's "Check Engine" light come on. The light could mean a costly problem, like a bad catalytic converter, or it could be something minor, like a loose gas cap
  • Computer diagnostics- modern vehicles are fitted with at least one onboard computer. The computer's main function is to monitor and adjust the engine and transmission. Computer testing and diagnostics is an integral aspect to professional electronic work on modern cars. Computer diagnostics help find the root causes of major and potential automobile problems
  • Drivability- drivability is the degree of smoothness and steadiness of your truck's acceleration. Most modern vehicles are fitted with on-board computers that continuously check the readings from various sensors. In case of drivability problems, you will receive a warning message on your truck's dashboard
  • Engine controls- basically, an engine control system is an on-board computer in your truck. Like all computers, the engine controls are composed of hardware and software. Automotive engine control systems are responsible for regulating exhaust emissions, and providing increased fuel economy. To get the best out of your vehicle's incredibly powerful technology, make sure engine controls are working properly

Fleet semi truck brake services

  • Fast repairs when you need them- awareness of decreased reaction time, an unusual burning smell, or odd noise can help you catch damage to your air brakes before it becomes a high-cost auto repair or an accident. Our shop can replace brake pads and shoes and restore your truck's drums and rotors. Once an issue is diagnosed, our professional mechanics at Quality Repair Service will resolve the problem quickly and get your fleet back on the road fast
  • Regularly scheduled brake maintenance for your fleet- avoid fleet downtime and schedule regular air brakes inspection a minimum of twice a year to find problems resulting from normal "wear and tear." Your air brakes work in a high-pressure environment where air from the storage tanks flows, pushing the piston down the brake chamber to the pushrod to move the slack adjuster which turns and pushes the brake shoes against drums or rotors. The intense force and compression that makes air brakes so reliable can also create problems over time.
